Emerald Exam was originally created in 2012 at AngelHack Boston. Today, the Philadelphia-based startup continues to deliver a simple and secure assessment tool to instructors and their students. Emerald currently serves more than 1000 high-school and college students in Philadelphia, New York City, and Dallas.
Emerald Exam is a paperless exam tool that allows students to take exams on laptops – with full academic integrity.
Emerald has been granted seed financing by the Dorm Room Fund, a student-run venture capital fund that invests in student-run startups. Emerald has also received grants from a number of campus organizations at the University of Pennsylvania, including the Wharton Innovation Fund and the Weiss Tech House.
Emerald was co-founded by University of Pennsylvania seniors, Alex Rattray and Pulak Mittal. Read their bios here.
